The Liver Unit is dedicated to the management of children with liver disease and provides highly specialised care. This includes nutrition, family support and organ transplantation services involving liver, liver and kidney, liver and small bowel and isolated small bowel. The philosophy of the unit is based on family centred care.

The multidisciplinary paediatric team includes paediatricians specialised in hepatology, gastroenterology and nutrition. Surgeons specialised in hepato-biliary and transplant surgery, and a specialised team including liaison nurses, ward nursing team, transplant coordinators, dieticians, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists and play therapists. The unit is supported by high quality Radiology, Histopathology, Anaesthetic, Intensive Care and other paediatric specialists within the Children's Hospital.

The unit is located in Ward 8, on the first floor, and has its own high dependency and middle care areas. Play-room and facilities for parents are available in the unit.
